Every volunteer (coach, referee, board member, team parent, etc.) must submit a Volunteer Application each year through their Region’s Sports Connect portal.

The Volunteer Application is delivered to AYSO National Headquarters and to Sterling Background Checks. Sterling provides all volunteers with an email link to complete the annual background check which screens for volunteers’ suitability to work with our participants.

4) Safesport Course (Not on etrainu / Instructions Below)
The 2017 SafeSport Act has expanded Mandated Reporters to include adults authorized to interact with children. Due to this expansion, that includes AYSO and it requires training on child abuse and expanded reporting.
Effective January 1, 20022, U.S. Soccer will no longer allow equivalent training, such as AYSO's Safe Haven, and has mandated SafeSport training. The training must be completed by no later than September 1, 2022 for team activation for the Fall season.
AYSO volunteers will still be required to complete the currently-approved on-line Safe Haven course on a one time basis.
